OOC: Infopost, the Spring 2012 “OMFG I Apped a Boy This Time” Edition!

I know, I know. It’s weird for me too. Let’s lead off with my new boy! There’s a good chance you’ve at least heard of him OOCly before thanks to various other characters in the game, but Fandom, meet Anakin Solo.

No, not that Anakin. The other one. His grandson.

Anakin Solo, Boy Hero of the New Republic
Fandom: Star Wars Expanded Universe (New Jedi Order era)
PB: Ryan Merriman
Year: Sophomore
Hair: Dark brown and perpetually messy
Eyes: ICE BLUE (because they never let you forget it so I felt obligated to mention it here)

Anakin SOLO? Really?
Yes, really. Anakin is the youngest of Han and Leia Organa Solo’s three children, about a year and a half younger than Jaina and Jacen. Leia chose to name him after his grandfather partly out of a desire to redeem her father’s name, and partly as a weird sort of way to see what Anakin Skywalker could have been like, by proxy.

It was not exactly the kindest thing she could have done, but points for good intentions.

So yeah, Anakin’s got issues about his name. It didn’t help that a clone of Emperor Palpatine (yes, the clone thing happens a lot in Star Wars EU) kept taking an interest in him before he was born, and at one point touched Leia’s stomach while she was pregnant with him. And at another point tried to take over hisbody, also while Leia was pregnant with him. Partly because of that, a lot of the people Anakin’s known all his life have a somewhat superstitious fear of him living up to his namesake in the bad way.

Partly, but not completely -- Anakin is extremely strong in the Force and has a tendency to use it in cavalier ways. It's a canon description, and a valid one, that he uses the Force like his father would if Han were a Jedi. Add in Anakin’s impatient and temperamental streaks, and you have to admit they might have good reason to worry.

The short version of how he relates to the other Fandom GFFA-ers:

- Jaina's (solo_sword) little brother (from about 12 years further back in the timeline, though)
- Leia's (likesscoundrels) youngest son
- Luke's (tatooine_doofus) nephew
- Ben's (momslilassassin) older cousin (though Ben won't be born for about a year for him yet)
- Anakin Skywalker's (sith_happened) grandson
- Tahiri Veila's (weetuskenraider) best friend (because they haven't figured out that they're more into each other than that yet)
- No relation to Zayne Carrick (cataclysmicluck). Which is a shame since Zayne is awesome.

Anakin is from a different timeline from any of them, though.

By this point in the game I don't think I need to go into a detailed rundown of what his powers entail as a Jedi, but I should probably note that like his grandfather, the amount of pure, raw Force power Anakin possesses is off the charts. Using the Force is nearly effortless for him under normal circumstances. He's got the same basic skill set as any Jedi, though.

Well, with one exception: he has a certain skill of battle precognition that allows him to see the flow of the upcoming fight and know exactly how he should move. It's not perfect and won't keep him from sustaining injuries, though. And no, he won't be using that in a typical spar or anything like that.

As for why Anakin's in Fandom: he's newly apprenticed to his uncle Luke, who’s sending him to Fandom in hopes that being there will get him some distance from his father (who’s still an emo grieving mess over Chewbacca’s death, and blaming Anakin for it) and help Anakin with his recent resolution to give up the need to be right all the time. Oh, also because of that whole worrying-he’ll-live-up-to-his-name (in the bad way) thing; maybe he’ll get a little less of that pressure in Fandom.

He’s from midway through Dark Tide II: Ruin, the third book of the New Jedi Order series, so the Yuuzhan Vong war has only very recently started for him.

Wait, We've Heard of You.

If you know any of the other Fandom Skywalker-Solos (including Tahiri since she's kind of an honorary one) fairly well, there's a good chance you've at least heard of Anakin.

There is also a good chance, particularly if your character was around for the Field of Dreams plot, that you know he's going to die. At seventeen, actually.

I want to be up front about that: I am not changing that part of Anakin's canon future. Not to give spoilers, but I'm planning to have him go on his final, fatal mission just after his junior year. This is mostly a heads-up for anyone who might become friends with him, just so you guys know what you're in for eventually with this boy.

That said, if you do know that Anakin's going to die, please don't tell him? I do want him to find out at some point, and while I don't have any specific plans as to how he'll find out I don't think he's ready for it yet.

He is also from about a year and change before Tahiri gets kidnapped and shaped, so he will look at you strangely if you mention her having the scars or knowing the Yuuzhan Vong language. I'm less particular about whether he finds that out so don’t worry about bringing up any details about Tahiri to him (provided they’re unrelated to him dying), though fair warning, he might get kind of mad about it.

Oh -- and you know how he developed this badass hero reputation after his death? Feel free to WTF over how he sure doesn't seem to live up to that yet. Because he doesn't.

Stephanie Brown, AKA Robin the Girl Wonder (batwaffles)
PB: Brittany Robertson
Fandom: DC Comics (Batman, Robin, Detective Comics, Batgirl vol. 2 and 3, Batman and Robin, Gotham Knights, etc.)

* Is a junior.
* Rooms with Jeremy Darling (stars_and_money).
* Is dating Tony Stark (hoorayimrich) because mixing DC and Marvel is basically a thing that always needs to happen in Fandom.
* Has a second-rate criminal mastermind, Arthur Brown AKA the Cluemaster, for a father.
* Has serious daddy issues as a result.
* Likes punching people in the face.
* Is secretly the fourth of Batman's kid-sidekick Robins.
* The only person who has been expressly this as of yet is Tony (although Topher knows now, too). I don't mind other people finding out, but please let me know if you'd like that to happen so we can work it out?
* Is not the sharpest or most experienced junior detective, but she's learning. Her eagerness tends to get in the way of her effectiveness, though.
* Is quite capable of being smartass, sarcastic, and/or bitchy.

Gabrielle of Poteidaia -- Future Badass With a Samurai Sword, Current Henna-Tattooed Peacenik (ancientbschamp)

Fandom: Xena: Warrior Princess (currently late season 4)

* Is a senior.
* Hails from the Very Special Ancient Greece, where anachronism is everything, so if she randomly knows something that should be way past her time and it strikes you as weird, it's most likely intentional on my part, and if it isn't . . . pretend it is, because if canon never cared about that stuff, clearly I should be true to it.
* Is an Amazon queen.
* Is also a bard, and as such knows and loves to tell a lot of stories, although you're pretty much stuck with ancient ones.
* Can and will make stuff up to talk herself out of a situation, but usually not before she talks herself into it.
* Has awesome abs and generally looks like someone who lives an active and frequently physically strenuous lifestyle. Oh, and she's also 5'3" with short-cut blonde hair and green eyes.
* Currently sports elaborate henna tattoos over a lot of the visible portions of her skin (which is a lot of it).
* Is actually a pretty capable if non-lethal fighter, but as a recent adherent to "the Way of Love" has committed to total non-violence.
* Is into yoga and meditation now. Yes, that's a recent development.
* Can and will talk your ear off if you let her.
* Hero-worships the hell out of Xena and will talk about her any chance she gets. And will probably tell you all about how Xena invented CPR, helped come up with the Trojan horse strategy, was friends with Helen of Troy, etc. Or how she herself knows Homer personally.
* Kind of has a thing for puppyface woobie boys. Anything that happens there is inevitably DOOMED.

Kennedy, the Buffyverse's Most Annoying Potential Slayer (brat_intraining)
PB: Iyari Limon
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (currently living S7 canon)

* Is from season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, currently living through that, and almost completely cut off from Fandom while she does.
* Therefore, is currently living in Buffy's house along with a bunch of other people that the First Evil wants dead, because that's clearly the best plan ever.
* Is of Latin heritage, and from a ridiculously stupid-rich New York family.
* Graduated in May, but has lived through an entire year over the summer term.
* With the single exception of a cracky thing I can't resist adapting heavily, will so not be living season 8 comics canon. (Season 9 starts soon, though. Ugh, watch me decide to adapt stuff from that.)
* Is not shy (read: occasionally kind of obnoxious, actually) about letting you know she's a lesbian.
* Is not shy about pretty much anything at all.
* Is abrasive, pushy, hotheaded, entitled, and kind of obnoxious.
* Is a Potential Slayer, and trained for twelve years under her Watcher, Constance Aluko (my headcanon), in case she ever gets called as the next Slayer. Has no Slayer powers, save the occasional wacky proto-Slayer dream.
* Dated Tara Maclay (life_inshadow) for almost a year and a half until they broke up over the summer. They're still friends, but it's kind of complicated. You know, because Kennedy fell for Tara's future girlfriend, and then found out that Tara's dead in her time.
* Courtesy of Fandom, has met Faith and Wesley, and now knows two versions of Buffy, Willow, and Xander.
* Is quite capable of being smartass, sarcastic, and/or bitchy.



Tahiri Veila: Jedi Knight, Enemy of Footwear, Tricultural Fast Talker (weetuskenraider)

Fandom: Star Wars Expanded Universe (post-New Jedi Order, pre-Dark Nest)

* Lived through the NJO storyline during her time in Fandom.
* Is from the same general time period as Jaina Solo (solo_sword, to whom she is Kind Of Attached in a vaguely slashy way), but from a different version of the GFFA and a few years behind her.
* Is almost 5'4" thanks to a late growth spurt (and Jaina's remembering that after she got Nothing'ed, thank you solo_sword), very slender, with blonde hair, green eyes, and three vertical scars running from her hairline to her eyebrows. Also, is always barefoot indoors and most of the time outdoors, and only wears shoes in the winter, on really dangerous terrain, or if she's flying.
* Is a Jedi, yes. Powerful telekinetic, weak telepath except with other Jedi and particularly ones she's close to.
* Was BFF with Jaina's younger brother Anakin all through childhood, and they'd just started being romantically involved when he was killed in the Yuuzhan Vong War. Was kind of massively shattered by this.
* Is pretty much over that now, and until the beginning of the summer was dating Jaina's cousin Ben Skywalker (momslilassassin). Yes, he's a wee child in her and Jaina's timelines. I may enjoy impossible and doomed intra-canon ships of Wrong. It's a thing.
* Was, after Anakin's death, more or less adopted by Han and Leia Solo.
* Was orphaned at the age of 2 and raised by the Sand People of Tatooine, so speaks fluent Tusken.
* Is half Yuuzhan Vong thanks to fun with kidnap, torture, and brainwashing (literally -- they implanted Vong braincells in her). But also speaks fluent Yuuzhan Vong, and may occasionally talk to you from that culture's perspective.
* Is quite capable of being smartass, sarcastic, and/or bitchy.



Katina "Katchoo" Choovanski, the Original Angry Blonde Or Something (thismaskiwear)

Fandom: Strangers in Paradise

* Is from Terry Moore's long-running comic series, heavily modified for timelines and a reduced/altered role for David Qin and WTF TERRY WE ARE NOT GOING THROUGH TEN YEARS OF THIS BACK AND FORTH BS.
* Is BFF/roomies/in love with/involved with Francine Peters (thatsamilkshake), who was her best friend from high school back in Houston before Katchoo up and ran away from her alcoholic mother and abusive stepfather and ended up in Los Angeles as the kept girl to the head of the lesbian mafia.
* Had a fuuuuuuuun experience a little while ago involving said past coming to bite her in the ass, so now Francine as well as Merlin and Arthur know aaaaaaaaaall about that little secret.
* Is 5'3" but looks scrawny and a little underfed, with thick and very yellow-blonde hair, four piercings in each ear, razor blade scars on her wrists (that she keeps hidden), hazel eyes, and a perpetual glare, scowl, or other crankyface expression.
* Has a low, hoarse voice that cracks when she's upset.
* Knows a disturbing amount about seducing information out of people, setting them up for sex-scandal blackmail, setting up corporate takeovers, and maintaining a long-term cover as a lesbian mafia undercover operative.
* Won't be telling YOU about that.
* Probably doesn't like you, either. (Particularly hates Tahiri, Gabrielle, and Kennedy for various petty reasons that really just amount to "I think I'm hysterical." Though all things considered she might get along with Steph.)
* Still has no idea how she got to be friends with Arthur and Merlin, but she wouldn't give that up for anything now.
* Is quite capable of being smartass, sarcastic, and/or bitchy.



Samuel T. Anders: Athlete, Unwitting Toaster, and Also Bob Dylan (No, Really) (cantgetnorelief)

Fandom: Battlestar Galactica (2003)

* Is pre-canon, currently about six years before the Cylons obliterate the Colonies of Kobol.
* Goes by Anders; does not like being called Sam although he's slowly learning to tolerate it, but Samuel or Sammy are RIGHT OUT.
* Fairly easygoing jock; plays Pyramid but has developed an affinity for baseball, and plays basketball while he's living on Earth.
* Because he lives in Los Angeles, with the gang at the Hyperion.
* Is a human-form Cylon, but doesn't know it yet. As such, because I can't get jossed again, he:

- Is resistant or immune to most if not all standard human diseases. Fandom's magical plague is a notable exception.
- Has above-average physical strength and endurance, which he attributes to being in good athletic condition.
- Occasionally hears "All Along the Watchtower" in his head.
- Because he wrote the song originally, in his universe. See? Bob Dylan.
- WILL HAVE SOMETHING DONE WITH THIS SOMEDAY, I SWEAR TO GOD. REALLY.

Jennifer Scotts, Proving the Guy in Red Doesn't Always Lead the Power Ranger Team (time_flyer_5)

Fandom: Power Rangers Time Force

* Is post-canon.
* Time Force Police officer from the year 3000.
* Works as a Research and Development associate at Space Patrol Delta in the year 2024. This basically means she tests the not-spandex and equipment.
* Occasionally also gets sent off on missions for Time Force that usually involve tailing people suspected of time-traveling for dubious reasons.
* Lives in Newtech City, California along with bridge_carson, multiplez, and needsaparrot in the giant dog-shaped building that can also turn into a giant robot when necessary, yes.
* Still has Ranger powers; can morph into pink spandex-wearing, helmeted superhero type. Won't exactly be doing so at the drop of a hat.
* Decent with a blaster; good at hand-to-hand.
* Comes from a futuristic "utopia" that is actually kind of BADCREEPYWRONG, on account of all humans being genetically engineered before birth and the complete lack of junk food.
* Will hold a grudge forever against anyone who gets on her bad side severely enough, but that usually takes something like her former duty partner selling Time Force secrets to criminals.
