Anakin Solo here. Um, leave a message. I'll get back to you. Okay?

Anakin needed a healing trance. Even a few minutes to stop and rest . . . )

[OOC: And this is it, folks, the end of Anakin's story. For the last time, this was adapted from Star by Star by Troy Denning. NFI/NFB, and OOC okay.

Content warning for lots of violence, semi-graphic descriptions of injuries, NPC death, and character death.

If anyone wants to find out about Anakin's death, I am leaving that up to the discretion of his in-game relatives. I just ask that any conversations about it remain NFB, please, so it can be avoided as needed.]
nonelikemesince: (Tanktop (Working Out Aww Yeah))
They'd killed at least nine or ten voxyn by now -- Anakin wasn't even trying to keep count any more -- and lost their last combat droid to a coralskipper attack, but the team was intact despite the growing tension in the battle-meld. Anakin wasn't willing to make it worse by adding his stress and concern to the mix, so he'd channeled his father's cocky overconfidence, hoping to reassure everyone.

He was probably overcompensating quite a bit. )

[OOC: NFB/NFI/OOC-okay. One more post to come.

Content warning: swarms of bitey insects, blood, violence, NPC death, and serious injuries.

. . . I am just now realizing that I have now played at least 3 characters who have canonically dismissed mortal wounds with, basically, "Look, it's not that bad, it doesn't hurt!" As character types go, this is not something I intentionally aspired to, I swear.]
nonelikemesince: (Messy Hair See?)
Anakin, this has to be done. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/TBC/OOC-okay, etc. Still Star by Star by Troy "Made of Evil" Denning. I freely admit I'm glossing over a lot of stuff. I hate this book. D:]
nonelikemesince: (Have a Bad Feeling About This)
With the rest of the ship's Yuuzhan Vong crew put off in the shuttle and a hyperspace course set for Myrkr, Anakin's team finally had a chance to rest up, repair the droids, and heal a bit. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/TBC/etc., dialogue from Star by Star by Troy Denning, ad nauseam.

Content warning for NPC character death, which is going to be a continuing trend from here on out.]
nonelikemesince: (Have a Bad Feeling About This)
The strike team was still all accounted for when Anakin came to again. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/OOC-okay/etc., still majorly adapted/condensed from Star by Star by Troy Denning, still TBC. Some minor descriptions of violence beneath the cut, but that's about the worst of it.]
nonelikemesince: (Serious)
Lando's staged betrayal of them had been a success, though even knowing that it was all part of the plan hadn't made the entire experience any less terrifying. None of them had to try too hard to feign shock; the whole thing felt too real, and their shared emotions through the battle-meld only made their reaction more convincing.

As had the knowledge that they were deliberately putting themselves into enemy hands.  )

[OOC: *alphabet soup dance*NFI/NFB/OOC-okay, TBC, Star by Star by Troy "WTF Is Wrong With You" Denning.

Content warning: This post contains violence, prolonged torture, and mention of blood.]
nonelikemesince: (Serious)
So far, the entire trip had consisted of going over their plan point-by-point and going through training drills with the YVH combat droids who would be accompanying them. That might've been more stressful if it wasn't the best way to keep themselves from freaking out over how they were going into a mission with a statistically less than optimal chance of success. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/OOC-okay, TBC, Star by Star by Troy Denning is where I'm adapting this stuff from, you know the drill. There is nothing too horrible in this one, just people arguing and sibling drama.]
nonelikemesince: (Serious)
No one had made any formal distinctions, but there were effectively three separate groups of Jedi assembled in the crater room on Eclipse Station. )

[OOC: NFB/NFI/OOC-okay oh god here we go. D: Adapted from apsodiufa;lskjfa;s Star by Star by Troy "All The Pain" Denning, TBC. DAMN YOU, DENNING.]
nonelikemesince: (Solemnface)
In theory Anakin understood why his uncle had sent him back here, even if he didn't agree, but it was impossible to concern himself with things like classes starting up again this week when all he wanted to do was have a message come through on his comm telling him there was news and he was needed.

It was a relief when that message -- just a terse Cilghal has information. Get here as soon as you can -- actually came through. He couldn't possibly have grabbed his datapad and lightsaber (the only things of any value he owned in Fandom anyway) any faster if he'd summoned them to him with the Force . . . which he very nearly did, to be honest.

"Fiver, can you start plotting the fastest course back to Eclipse?" he asked his astromech droid, who was dutifully rolling along after him. Fiver beeped affirmatively, but then again, this time an insistent and mildly chiding sound. Anakin sighed and pulled out his comm to send a quick message to his relatives in Fandom: Heading home again. Not sure how long I'll be gone this time. "Okay, okay, don't blow a fuse! I know I've been bad about it."

It wasn't that long a walk from the dorms to the junkyard where his X-wing was parked, but for some weird reason, it felt like forever.

[OOC: Last (open) post for Anakin in Fandom, if you want to talk to him before he goes away, well, forever. Going to be slow until evening, but I will SP anything in this post as long as necessary.]
nonelikemesince: (Ice Blue Eyes For Realz)
Last Sunday night in Fandom, Anakin had been in his dorm room, on the comm with Tahiri. )

[OOC: NFB/NFI. So this was originally like four posts long and then I decided I was being overindulgent and I maybe over-condensed it and sigh, yeah. This is adapted (in heavily condensed form) from Star by Star by Troy Denning, AKA the Freezer Book, and is the beginning of the end of Anakin's story. He'll be back in Fandom for the next couple of days, for any last interactions.

. . .

*cries*]
nonelikemesince: (B&W Thoughtful Pose)
So . . . that had been an eventful trip home. They usually were, but crash-landing ships and getting shot at and beating unreasonable odds were the kinds of eventful he was used to. Finally getting to meet the baby cousin who was also one of his teachers and -- well, everything that had happened with Tahiri? That was the kind of eventful that had Anakin feeling way out of his depth.

He'd been so out of his depth, in fact, that he and Tahiri had barely spoken the entire way from Yag'Dhul back to the Errant Venture, and they had yet to get around to "figuring it out" like they said they needed to do.

At least they were both clear on the fact that it hadn't just happened because they thought they were going to die on that station? That was something.

Still, when he left to head back to Fandom it felt a lot like he was running away, and rather than head straight back to the dorm, he took a detour out to the beach and sat down. In the sand -- which made him smile, and then feel awkward all over again.

He wasn't brooding, though. Honestly. Just thoughtful.

[OOC: Journal-ed, so as to keep all the canon catchuppy stuff out of comms, but open anyway!]
nonelikemesince: (Thinking)
It had only been about five minutes by Anakin's estimation, but it was cold. )

[OOC: Yes, I had to do this scene by itself. I HAD TO. I've been waiting forever for this one. NFI/NFB/OOC-okay, still Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes, etc.]
nonelikemesince: (Have a Bad Feeling About This)
"I say we escape," Tahiri was saying as she paced restlessly back and forth in the "guest" chamber where they were all cooling their heels. "All we need is another ship."

Corran snorted. 'As long as you're wishing for the unlikely, why not at least wish for vac suits first?' )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/TBC/OOC-okay, etc. etc. and so forth, still Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes, I still don't know why they titled this duology "Edge of Victory" when it was so far from the conclusion of the series, I still WTF a lot at some of his prose.]
nonelikemesince: (Worried/Peering Around Corner)
On an asteroid that revolved every four hours, one day felt like forever. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/OOC-okay, TBC, etc. Almost done with this one, which is still tweaked from Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes. Someone remind me to either save these things to GDocs or my flash drive next time, geez.]
nonelikemesince: (Solemnface)
They had three days' worth of supplies in their survival kit, vac suits, and no ship. )

[OOC: NFB/NFI/TBC/OOC-okay/ABCDEFG. Still Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes, etc. IDK why I split this one up, given how short this part is, but eh.]
nonelikemesince: (Headtilty Serious)
"Why don't you explain to me," Corran Horn said, "in great detail, why you were joyriding on a judicial speeder. And do not leave out the part that explains why people were shooting at me, and why you two disobeyed my direct order."

The hyperspace jump Anakin had laid in was several hours long, ample time for him and Tahiri to explain everything. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB/OOC-okay/TBC, the usual drill. Still adapted from Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes.]
nonelikemesince: (Have a Bad Feeling About This)
Eriadu was an industrial planet, and it showed in the shape of the skyline and the heavy pollution that hung in the atmosphere. It smelled like one, too, according to Tahiri. Anakin sometimes forgot how much she'd been stuck on remote planets until something like her reaction now came along and reminded him, but he wasn't sure what to make of how defensive she got when he said the buildings were uglier than the ones on Coruscant; she'd never been to either planet before.

She didn't argue when Anakin pointed out that it was probably a bad idea to go barefoot here, with the thick layer of industrial chemical gunk that coated just about every surface, but both she and Anakin bristled a bit when Corran told them to stay and guard the ship while he went out to get the supplies.

They did, though . . . )

[OOC: NFI/NFB, OOC-okay, TBC, the usual. Still adapted from Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes, with a warning for NPC character death.]
nonelikemesince: (Curious (Looking Up))
Anakin had barely gotten back from Fandom when Corran Horn tracked him down and asked if he'd be interested in tagging along on a routine supply run. It took no consideration at all for him to agree; going back and forth between here and Fandom took some of the edge off his restlessness (and the family night at Caritas had been weird but in a good way) but his classes and the flight sim weren't quite the same as taking a real ship on a real mission. So here he was, in the hangar bay of a bright red Star Destroyer, finishing up a few last preflight adjustments to the transport he and Corran were planning to take.

That was, until he spotted a familiar pair of bare feet walking toward him, followed by an even more familiar face peering beneath the ship and demanding, impatiently, "Come out from under there, Anakin Solo."

Whoops. )

[OOC: NFI/NFB, OOC-okay, TBC. Dialogue borrowed with some tweaks from Edge of Victory 2: Rebirth by Greg Keyes, whose overwrought descriptions of people's eye color I will absolutely not be borrowing.]
nonelikemesince: (Solemnface)
Anakin felt guilty being back here at all, to tell the truth. (Anakin felt guilty about a lot of things, but that had been the status quo for the past couple of years.) He and Tahiri had managed to escape Yavin 4 . . . )

[OOC: Some little bits adapted from Edge of Victory 1: Conquest by Greg Keyes again. Mostly establishy, but can be open before he goes off to class, I guess, why not?]
