nonelikemesinceThey had three days' worth of supplies in their survival kit, vac suits, and no ship, now that they'd sent the Lucre on an autopilot crash course to cover their exit onto the asteroid. And Corran would not leave Anakin alone about how it was his fault they were in this mess, and how he had far too high an opinion of himself and his abilities.
Or about how using the Force to keep Corran and Tahiri from floating off the asteroid's minimal-gravity surface had been reckless and unnecessary.
"It was easier," he argued. "More certain."
Corran wasn't buying it. "And you made that decision reflexively, without thinking. In emergency situations, in battle, you make a lot of decisions like that. If you make the wrong one --"
Anakin rolled his eyes behind the tinted faceplate of his vac suit. "I'll go to the dark side. So I keep hearing."
"Being cavalier about it won't help."
"Captain Horn," Anakin said, fighting to keep his voice steady, "I've thought about the dark side for most of my life. My mother named me after the man who became Darth Vader. The Emperor touched me through her womb. Every night I had nightmares that ended with me in my grandfather's armor. Sithspit, my grandfather is a teacher back in Fandom. With all due respect, I think I've probably thought a lot more about the dark side than anyone I know."
"Probably," said Corran, still skeptical. "Inoculation doesn't make you immune."
Anakin rolled his eyes again. "It does in medicine."
"I'm guilty of a bad analogy then," Corran maintained. "I do not stand corrected on the point."
Tahiri settled into a corner of the fissure they were using as a hiding place and noted, sarcastically, "This is going to be a fun three days."
